Every installation is completed using appropriate tools, accepted trade practices, and the manufacturer’s instructions and specifications where available.

Our goal is straightforward: install each product safely, protect the vehicle, test applicable functions, and document the completed work.​​​

Product Compatibility and Instructions​

Before installation, we confirm that the product is intended for the vehicle’s year, make, model, and trim.

Manufacturer-supplied instructions and specifications are followed, and the specified hardware and mounting locations are used where available and applicable. If a product is incomplete, incompatible, damaged, or cannot be installed safely, work will not proceed until the issue has been discussed with you.​​​​

Fasteners and Torque​

Critical fasteners are tightened to manufacturer-specified torque values where provided.

A torque wrench is used when a specific torque requirement applies, and critical fasteners are checked before the installation is considered complete.

This matters because:

• Under-tightened fasteners may loosen during use.

• Over-tightened fasteners may stretch, damage, or weaken the hardware.

• Correct torque helps the installed product perform as designed.

Drilling and Corrosion Protection​​​

When drilling is required, the location is confirmed before work begins and care is taken to avoid wiring, fuel lines, brake lines, structural components, and other concealed systems.

Any bare metal exposed during installation is treated with an appropriate corrosion-resistant coating before the product is secured.

Wiring and Electrical Protection​

Trailer wiring is routed and secured to reduce contact with:

• Moving components

• Sharp edges

• Exhaust heat

• Road debris

• Pinch points

• Areas prone to abrasion

Connections are protected using suitable automotive wiring components and methods. Installed trailer-lighting functions are tested before the vehicle is returned to the customer.

Vehicle and Product Ratings​

An installed hitch, rack, carrier, or accessory does not increase the vehicle’s original load or towing capacity.

You are responsible for following the lowest applicable rating or limitation specified by:

• The vehicle

• The hitch or mounting system

• The roof or crossbars

• The installed accessory

• The ball mount and hitch ball

• Any carrier or adapter

• The manufacturer’s instructions

Final Inspection and Testing​

Before an installation is considered complete, applicable checks may include:

• Visual inspection of mounting points and hardware

• Check of applicable critical fasteners

• Trailer-lighting function testing

• Confirmation that wiring is secured and protected

• Review of accessory engagement or locking mechanisms

• Confirmation that panels, liners, and trim have been reinstalled

• Photographs of the completed installation for service records, where applicable

• Review of applicable product-use and maintenance information with you​​

Customer-Supplied Products​

Customer-supplied products are installed to the same workmanship standard, but Peninsula Hitch cannot guarantee their compatibility, completeness, condition, or manufacturing quality.

If supplied parts are missing, incorrect, damaged, or unsafe to install, the issue will be explained before work proceeds.​​​

​

Installation Limitations​

Rust, corrosion, seized hardware, previous repairs, aftermarket modifications, hidden damage, or unsuitable products may prevent a standard installation.

If additional work, parts, or time are required, we’ll contact you before performing work outside the approved scope.​​​

We do not simply tighten hardware until it “feels right.” Critical fasteners are tightened to the manufacturer’s specifications where provided, and each installation is inspected before the vehicle is returned to you.
